K-Pop,
Korean Pop, has a growing popularity across the globe in the past few
years. Thanks to the aggressive
promotion of the Korean media industry in other regions which gives birth to
the rise of K-Pop. Eventually the
success was not an accident; it was all strategically planned with its critical
success factors.
The
reason why Korean groups are more popular than other singing groups from other part
of the world is they know how to capture the global market by closely aligning
their music style with US. They understand
and learn the critical music elements that capture audience’s interest and
attention and put those elements into Korean music. The US
music industry also has a missing existence of Asian pop music over the
years. The rise of K-Pop gives an
opportunity to nurture Asian pop music to the US market.
The
appearances of Korean singing stars and singing groups are attractive. Not solely referring to their facial
appearances, it’s all about the overall appearances to include the way they
dress and the hit dance they deliver strongly appeal to the young generation. Even young adults get the sense of
youthfulness when they see the way Korean Pop Stars dance.
The
rise of Korean dramas is also another reason contributes to the success of
K-Pop. Many of the dramas manage to
closely link with the audience’s heart. Recent
success of “Rooftop Prince” has an audience vote of over 75% in Seoul
International Drama Awards 2012 organized by Korea.com. The success of the drama further increases
the popularity of its major actor, Park Yuchun of JYJ, with an audiences vote
over 77%. He has over 90,000 accumulated
fans base in one of the discussion forums in Mainland China, Baidu. His twitter account, though he decided to
close down eventually, had over 700,000 followers all over the world, thanks to
the widespread of internet and social media.
K-Pop
has major contribution to the Korean wave, which also known as Hallyu. This represents a global recognition of
Korean entertainment business which also brings positive effect to the entire
Korean culture.
